The Power of Trees

maple


The maple tree spreads peace and serenity and is a symbol of harmony, prosperity and health. Balance is the keyword of the maple seed. It helps not to burn the candle at both ends, but to channel incoming creative energy without restricting it. Maple is said to have a balancing effect and is therefore considered to protect against exhaustion and supports beauty, strength and endurance.

birch

It stands for new life and love and is also a symbol of rebirth and joy. The maypole is traditionally made from a birch tree and its branches are used to light the Beltane fire. It opens the Celtic tree calendar at Christmas and is a brave and determined herald of spring.

oak

The Celts and their Druids considered the oak to be a sacred tree and king of the forest. It embodies strength, courage and steadfastness. Originally it was dedicated to many female goddesses, such as Diana, the Greek goddess of the hunt and protector of women, who decorated her hat with oak leaves. The oak symbolizes courage and strength based on openness and generosity, as it stands for hospitality. Its fruits are a sign of honesty.


alder cones

The alder stands for determination and gives confidence to tackle things that you have previously avoided. It helps us to recognize what is good for us and what we can discard. It also teaches us to gently decide which new path is good for us. Alder cones are a symbol of generosity and health.


aspen

The trembling leaves of the aspen are said to offer protection and help in overcoming fears. The gentle rustling of its leaves trembling in the wind was considered to be the whispering of the gods. It was seen as a transmitter of messages of peace. In the Celtic tree calendar, it represents the equinox - the beginning of autumn. It is considered to bring light into the darkness.


ginkgo

G inko, the "millennium tree", can live up to 3000 years. It defies many environmental toxins, even radioactivity, and is revered as a tree that gives energy. Good spirits are said to live in it. Its leaves symbolize yin and yang, so it is considered harmonious, balancing and holistic. The leaves have great healing powers; they clear the mind and help you concentrate.


Evergreen

Evergreen (e.g. laurel) is not directly a tree, but its wonderful properties as a plant that helps with emotional injuries should be mentioned here. It is said to help open the heart again and dare to take new steps. Evergreen gives confidence and strength, it connects us with the love and lightness of youth and, like all evergreen plants, it is considered a symbol of hope and fertility.


poplar

The poplar is the tree of spirituality and embodies endurance and trust in the unknown. It is said to provide comfort in times of grief when a loved one or animal is lost and is connected to the ancestors. According to legend, the amber, made from the resin of its trunk, represents its mourning tears. The poplar helps us tune in to the gentleness of nature and brings our energies back into harmonious flow.
